What is SAQ?

• Speed-Agility-Quckness. SAQ skills receive little attention during the season but can have
  an impact on those players putting in work on it throughout the off season. SAQ exercises emphasize
  foot speed, acceleration and deceleration, quickness and change of direction. SAQ training can also help
  with injury prevention as well.
• Ball Mastery Competitive programs at all levels put the responsibility of footwork on the player outside of
  team training. This clinic will focus on teaching players how to improve speed, touch, comfort, and
  confidence on the ball. Mastery of these technical skills are necessary for any player to develop their
  game to the next level!

When is the clinic?

• This is a six-week program starting on November 3rd and running through December 15th
• Sessions are Fridays from 5pm to 6pm at Teamworks on Rt. 6 in Seekonk

Who can attend?

• This clinic is recommended for those new & current travel soccer players or those playing next level
  premier and looking to get an edge!
• The clinic is open to players in age groups 2009 through 2015

Tryouts for the 2023-24 Winter/Spring Black Goose season are officially open! Registration for the season is open via the following link - 2023/24 Winter/Spring Black Goose Registration.

Here is all of the information that you need to know:

When?

• Tryouts will be held at the Cole Street Fields on Sunday, October 29th (makeup date TBD)
  • Girls Tryouts - 9am-9:45am
  • Boys Tryouts - 10am-10:45am

Who?

• There are team opening for all Boys and Girls birth years 2010-2016
  • All players born 2016 and younger may try out to play in the 2015 division
  • All players born 2010 or older (who did not play Fall 2023) must email [email protected]
• All current Black Goose players 2010 to 2013 are NOT REQUIRED to try out for the Spring
• All current Black Goose players 2014 to 2016 are REQUIRED to try out for the Spring

What will you need to try out?

• All players must have the following at the try out:
  • Any jersey with a number on the back for tryouts
  • Soccer Ball
  • Shin Guards
  • Water
• The cost of the 2023-24 Winter/Sprint Black Goose season is $175.00 plus a $5.00 merchant fee
• All players will be sent a link to register/pay when they are assigned a team
  • Players will be notified of team placement by 12/1/23

Seekonk Youth Soccer is extremely excited to announce that in a continued effort to teach, grow, and
elevate youth soccer that we have partnered with Resendes Soccer Academy (RSA) to enhance our Fall
2023 Rec Soccer Program. This partnership is the perfect extension from this past Winter and Spring
when Seekonk Soccer started working with RSA to support our Black Goose program and run our Black
Goose Academy. This Fall our partnership will now provide Seekonk Rec Soccer players, from
Kindergarten to 4th grade, extra training with professional coaches and staff each week. In addition, our
parent driven volunteer coaches will receive training session plans weekly to use at practice.
This partnership will further enhance our Saturday games each week. When teams arrive for their game,
it will include a training session for 30 minutes with RSA coaches/Staff prior to playing their regular
game. This is a fun training environment for the kids while also providing a valuable demonstration for
our coaches in executing the drills before they practice later in the week.
The RSA Coaches and Staff are some of the best in the business. In providing Seekonk players and
coaches the opportunity to train with RSA, it allows us to build a stronger more consistent foundation of
skills throughout our program.

About Resendes Soccer Academy:
Ruben Resendes was recently named Head Coach Men’s Soccer at Bryant University. In 2022 he won the
NCAA Men’s Division II National Championship as Head Coach at Franklin and Pierce University.
Resendes and his staff have been named NCAA Coaching Staff of the Year for 3 consecutive seasons! He
founded Resendes Soccer Academy in 2019. He continues to spread his passion, knowledge and love, for
soccer to youth players all over New England!

Thank you and welcome to the 2023 Fall Rec Pre-Season! We are excited to kick off another season of soccer in Seekonk starting September 9th, and we have information on uniforms, equipment, and other things to get your young soccer players ready for the season.

Uniforms

All players must have a Rec uniform in order to participate in the games. The uniform consists of a Seekonk Youth Soccer Rec jersey (either reversible, or the (2) jersey set Royal Blue/White), Royal Blue Socks, and Royal Blue Shorts.  If your child has any SYS Rec uniform from a previous season, he/she may use that same Rec jersey, regardless of the style. 

If you need to purchase a new uniform, you can either visit DMK Sports in Smithfield or purchase the uniform via DMK Sports' Seekonk Youth Soccer Team Store. To ensure that uniforms arrive on time, please order yours no later than August 18th.

DMK will have (2) different uniform kits available to purchase:

• The (1) Blue and (1) White (2 shirts total) jersey set, which is in limited supply and is discounted.
• The most recent SYS Logo in a Blue/White reversible jersey, which will be the main rec jersey going forward.

All socks and shorts can be purchased with the game jerseys at DMK Sports as well.

Other Equipment

In addition to a uniform, all players must have the following equipment for every practice and game:

• Soccer Ball (Grades 1-8: Size 4; Kindergarten: Size 3)
• Shin Guards
• Long Socks (make sure they cover the Shin Guards)
• Soccer Cleats
• Water Bottle
